The top two teams in the Saskatchewan Bantam AA Hockey League's North Division were upset on the weekend. The first overall West Central Wheat Kings were eliminated from the playoffs by the Battlefords Bantam AA Barons in three games.

The win-loss record may not prove it, but the Battlefords AAA Sharks were a much improved hockey team this season.

The Battlefords North Stars' season came to an end sooner than the players, staff and fans would have liked, or would have expected for that matter, but with the end of the season the team handed out their final awards of the 2012-13 season.

The Korpach rink is back on top in New Horizon curling as of March 5.The win to put them on top didn't come easy, as they were all tied 4-4 with the Wally Gordey rink. He was one up coming home and all that was needed was a guard to end the game.

The Maidstone/Turtleford Midget Jets have had a successful regular season and are looking for a S.T.E.P. League title heading into March. After regular season play the Jets ended up in second place with a record of 18-3-0, second only to Meadow Lake.

The North Saskatchewan River Hockey League's championship series got started Saturday as the first overall St. Walburg Eagles hosted the second overall Wilkie Outlaws.

Nine teams participated in the Twin Rivers Curling Club 82nd annual River Rockers Bonspiel. The women's bonspiel was moved up earlier in the season this time around, but it was still great curling.

To say the Battlefords Midget Stars and Saskatoon Contacts don't like each other might be the understatement of the season. In Saskatoon's game one win there were 31 penalty minutes issued between the two teams and one game misconduct.

The Battleford Beaver Blues punched their ticket to the Saskatchewan Prairie Hockey League final nearly 10 days ago and were waiting to see who their opponent would be.

It took four games, but the Estevan Bruins pulled off the upset in the Sherwood Conference Survivor series and will advance to the conference semifinals against Yorkton.
