The Battlefords Midget Stars officially started the second half of their season at the infamous Schroh Arena in Saskatoon against the Sasktoon Contacts Tuesday night.

The Battlefords Beaver Blues have a former teammate's jersey on display in the lobby of the Battleford Arena, and it appears he has watched over them during their first two games of the season.

The Battlefords Phoenix Sports Bantam AA Barons played at home on the weekend twice and earned two wins to improve to 5-4-1 in Saskatchewan Bantam AA Hockey League action. Saturday, the Barons beat Prince Albert 8-3.

With some fresh trades and a new 20-year-old in their lineup, the Humboldt Broncos trounced the visiting Kindersley Klippers on home ice on December 4.

The Battlefords Midget Stars earned a split on home ice and now have won two of their last three games heading into Tuesday's action.

Tuesday in Saskatoon, the Battlefords Midget Stars allowed nine straight goals to the Saskatoon Contacts before scoring three of their own in a 9-3 loss in Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League action.

Both North Battleford Comprehensive High School coaches, Jamie Sommerfeld and Bryan Cottini, were happy with their teams' efforts on the weekend in one of the biggest senior basketball tournaments of the season.

The North Stars continue to impress and the most recent accomplishment to go along with their 26-5-0-2 record is a sweep of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League's player of the week awards. The player of the week was Blake Tatchell.

The Battlefords AAA Sharks had two home games on the weekend and came within five seconds of breaking their 13-month losing streak. The eighth place Sharks faced the seventh place Swift Current Wildcats at Battleford Arena and lost 2-0 and 2-1.

Before the weekend, the longest winning streak of the season for the Battlefords North Stars was nine games.
