DECEMBER 29 North Saskatchewan River Hockey League has the Edam Three Stars at home to Turtleford and Meadow Lake in Wilkie for 8:30 p.m. starts. DECEMBER 30 Saskatchewan Prairie Hockey League has the Saulteaux Three Stars in Battleford for an 8 p.m.

A Light of Christ Catholic School Division elementary wind-up bonspiel was held at the Battleford Curling Rink Dec. 3. Action started at 9 a.m. and went through until 3 p.m. All teams played five games over the day and fun was had by all.

As 2010 draws to an end, it is time to look forward to what 2011 will bring. For the Battlefords one major event to look forward to is the 2011 SaskTel Provincial Men's Curling Championship.

After a snowstorm cancelled their last home game of 2010 on December 14, the Humboldt Broncos headed out to face the Yorkton Terriers and the Melville Millionaires in their final match-ups before the Christmas break.

The four Battlefords atom teams hosted their annual home tournament on the weekend and had four other teams attend. Winning the A final was Dinsmore over Hafford. The Battlefords Bruins lost to Wilkie in the B final.

Midget AA Barons The Barons score against Watson at the Civic Centre was not recorded at press time, but they are unfortunately at the bottom of the Centre Four Hockey League with a 1-11-0 record.

If you lined the two teams up side-by-side on the court, you could be forgiven for thinking that the game was going to be a blowout. But that's not how it turned out.

The Maymont Settlers hosted the Radisson Wheat Kings Sunday night and it came down to the final 36 seconds to determine a winner. Kenton Albert had a hat trick and two assists to lead the Maymont attack.

The schools were from across the province, but the scores proved that every team was competitive. The Lake Lenore Lancers senior boys' basketball team hosted the annual Lake Lenore Invitational Tournament (LLIT) December 17-18.

In seven North Saskatchewan River Hockey League games this weekend, everything went according to plan at least for the higher ranked teams. Every game went the way of the standings as the higher ranked team won in every matchup.
