The snow has (finally) started to fall again, the wind is getting colder, and most of us are getting time off of work or school to spend with family and friends. The Christmas season is finally here.

Ed, my neighbour next door, has a saying. "It's alright to talk about the mistakes of others, for they won't be mentioning them." He was quick to tell me that I shouldn't be working overnight shifts in December.

The big story from last weekend at the movies was not about the movies on the screen or even what people thought of them. It was about how few people were watching. Theatre attendance last weekend was terrible all across North America.

A new year presents us with an opportunity to start new and fresh.

It's interesting what a person notices while they go about their everyday life and what they remember at the end of the day. Today the wind is blowing so hard I can hear it, but when I look out the window it isn't obvious what season we're in.

It's truly amazing what an individual can achieve, and the impact one person can have on the lives of others, and the community as a whole.

In recent months I have grown increasingly frustrated with a couple of service stations in town. While they shall remain nameless, let's just say I'm an owner. Or rather, a member who receives annual equity cheques as a result of my loyalty.

Ever notice the dire warnings concerning a promised visit from Ole' Saint Nick? "He sees you when you're sleeping, he knows when you're awake" and if that wasn't enough, he's aware of good and bad behaviour and rewards both accordingly.
