One person arrested for assault in Estevan

ESTEVAN — Members of the Estevan Police Service arrested a person for assault earlier this week.

According to the May 26 report, EPS members attended to a domestic disturbance in the central area of Estevan during dayshift. An investigation determined that a male subject, who had left the scene prior to police arrival, was arrestable for assault. 

Officers continued with the investigation during the nightshift, located the male and subsequently arrested and released him on an undertaking with conditions.  He will attend Estevan Provincial Court at a later date to speak to the charge.

A report of criminal harassment through online posts was received and remains under investigation.

A complaint of trespassing was reported and remains under investigation.

The EPS received a report May 27 from a male inquiring about how to remove a roommate from his residence. Suggestions were provided and no further police involvement was required.

Police were dispatched to a residence in east Estevan for a report of an assault. Members attended and the matter is still under investigation.

A complaint was received of a mischief to a vehicle in the 1400-block of Third Street. The incident occurred May 24, and the file number was provided for informational purposes with the owner’s insurance company. The matter remains under investigation.

EPS members are investigating a report of theft that occurred in the 1000-block of Fourth Street. Video surveillance has been obtained and a suspect identified. Charges are pending.

Police received a report of an erratic driver travelling north on 13th Avenue. A description of the truck was provided along with a partial licence plate number, but members were unable to locate the vehicle.

A report of an unconscious male near a north-central business resulted in his arrest for public intoxication. The individual was grossly intoxicated and unable to care for himself, so following an assessment by Estevan EMS, he was lodged in cells until sober.

Police received a report of an adult uttering threats against several youths during the nightshift. The matter remains under investigation, pending statements from the youths.

Members conducted a wellbeing check on an individual reported to potentially be suicidal. Officers located the person and confirmed that the person was safe, well and had no intentions of self-harm.
