Warm, dry spell aids harvest

The dry weather we have been enjoying has enabled farmers to make good progress with harvest operations. Quite a number have completed combining and others report having very little left to do. It is always a relief when the weather co-operates.

Museum reps meet in Wilkie

The North West Museum Association fall meeting was hosted by the Wilkie Museum members Oct. 4. Museums represented were Bresaylor, Glaslyn, Goodsoil, Lashburn, Maidstone, Neilburg, Meadow Lake, Rabbit Lake, St. Walburg, Spiritwood, Unity and Wilkie.

More than 400 visitors over the summer

Maidstone Museum is closed for the summer season, but visits can be arranged by appointment until the snow falls. Members had a busy summer with more than 400 visitors signing the book. Some may have been missed.

Fall supper arrangements being finalized

We wish Walter Campbell a speedy recovery. He is presently recuperating in an Edmonton hospital. The Waseca Hall Committee members are making final arrangements for the fall supper to be held on Sunday, Nov. 2. Many phone calls have yet to be made.

The Borden Anglican and United Churches were both beautifully decorated for the Thanksgiving services Oct. 12. At Borden United there will be no church Oct. 19, as the minister, Gayle Wensley, has her daughter Erica's wedding Oct.

School community council elects officers

Last week, the elementary hallways of Maymont Central School were decorated with turkeys for Thanksgiving. One class made turkeys out of construction paper and paper plates.

Meota seniors make cleanup to-do list

The Meota Seniors held their monthly meeting on Oct.10, in the Do Drop In. A dozen members turned out and with vice-president Eric Callbeck in chair. Items of interest were discussed. Repairs to the hall and area were a top issue.
